O&G has developed an efficient strategy for keeping your projects on target:

A Solution-Oriented Approach

O&G’s approach to project planning is based on determining the long-term objectives, schedule, and final result desired by our client on any specific project. We then focus the scope of work toward a clear path implementing only the tasks necessary to meet the end goals. O&G eliminates any extraneous activities (such as unnecessary sampling or studies) in order to focus our energies toward providing results that expedite project completion and benefit our client.

Project Efficiencies and Schedule Control

O&G is able to meet demanding schedules through project efficiencies. When applicable, we manage tasks by using project planning software with separate modules for federal, state, or fee acreage situations. Critical regulatory steps and project milestones are identified. Detailed information about specific tasks and responsibilities is developed, and daily progress is tracked. We emphasize: 1) realistic timing scenarios to minimize project length and costs, 2) concurrent, rather than consecutive, tasking to reduce project delays, 3) task assignments to eliminate resource “bottlenecking”, and 4) determination of critical timing windows for avoidance of project setbacks.

O&G collects field data using state-of-the-art GPS equipment to efficiently compile accurate results. We develop and manage spatial databases, analyze geographic data with GIS and related systems, and create map products appropriate for the required applications and reports. Whenever possible, digital field data are transmitted electronically to mapping software, eliminating the potential for data entry errors. O&G emphasizes using analytical and cartographic tools that provide the most costeffective means of analysis and display of results, whether employing GIS, CADD, or traditional cartographic techniques. Information can be disseminated via hardcopy maps, digital images, and electronic files that can be viewed with user-friendly GIS software.

Compliance Assurance

O&G scopes a project’s needs correctly the first time to ensure compliance and improve project efficiencies. Our information management system helps to efficiently navigate the legal maze of potential contradictory regulations promulgated by different agencies.

We use a relational database management system for data storage, permit tracking, and instantaneous permit generation of commonly required permits. Our system provides:

  • client-modifiable information databases
  • permit tracking/compliance spreadsheets
  • reduced permit application costs
  • greatly improved permit application completeness
    and accuracy.

Regulatory Agency and Public Acceptance

O&G is accustomed to working with numerous stakeholders who have divergent interests on any given project. We facilitate the process of developing consensus on issues while keeping focus on the goals. We make an effort to work cordially with the federal, state, and local agencies and have earned their respect based on our sensible ideas and quality work products. O&G works hard to maintain professional relationships with the government agencies, which lends important credibility to our findings and recommendations. We understand their requirements and are able to gain regulatory acceptance of our work.

Minimizing Project Costs

Through a combination of efficient project management and client advocacy, O&G saves money whenever appropriate. Savings result from knowing all applicable regulations and technologies, utilizing practical approaches and innovative ideas when necessary, scheduling efficiencies, and eliminating redundant tasks. O&G believes that project economics are best served by cost avoidance as opposed to cost reduction. We continually look for ways to eliminate project tasks or negotiate more favorable actions with the regulatory agencies.

Limiting Project and Operational Disruptions

We appreciate our clients’ need to maximize their business investment; therefore, we perform our work as unobtrusively as possible and look for ways to limit project disruptions. O&G has the practical experience to anticipate technical and regulatory issues with full awareness of a project’s critical path.

Single Point of Responsibility

O&G has the expertise to efficiently drive the environmental process toward real issues and eliminate redundancy in tasks, reduce scrutiny, and minimize agency management and review time. Regardless if we are fully managing a program or supporting a client’s project team, O&G’s professional staff is able to provide the responsible care and know-how to achieve practical results.
